This position is initially for a 24 month fixed term contract, employed by Teesside University but working day to day with Enginuity. The appointed candidate will have access to a £4k dedicated training budget tailored towards their personal development, access to leading industry experts and supervision from a leading academic research team from Teesside University’s, led by Dr Xiaoxian Zhu

This position forms part of the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) funded by Innovate UK. It’s essential you understand how KTP works with business and the University, and the vital role you will play if you successfully secure a KTP Associate position.
Key responsibilities
What you’ll be doing
You will be developing and embedding a skills-based, data science driven, Workforce Planning Toolkit for the Engineering and Manufacturing Sector. The toolkit will be used to create a skills foresighting service which will identify and respond to future technical skills requirements within the sector.
Responsibilities
Undertake situational awareness, literature review and create a knowledge repository of existingworkforce planning, and foresighting, approaches within the context of the Engineering and Manufacturing (E&M) sector. Use the acquired knowledge to conduct the gap analysis in E&M Sector to understand and analyse the existing challenges and opportunities of how a data driven (business intelligence) solution is developed in to a HRP framework
•Determine available data that can be used to drive evidence-based decisions, this could be from public sources (O*Net or ESCO), aggregated data sources (EMSI) or private sources. (Job descriptions and CVs). Aggregate the knowledge, skills and behaviours, associated with various roles to feed into the Human Resource workforce planning in engineering (HRWPE) model and defining a new skills taxonomy
•Test, develop and adapt the existing practices and processes to create a new HRP workforce planning model (HRWPE) that is underpinned by the new taxonomy of E&M skills
•Test and validate the proposed HRWPE framework within Enginuity partner organisations
•Supporting Enginuity’s Senior team and New Product and Data teams to commercialise the tool within a commercial context
•Project manage the delivery of the Knowledge Transfer Partnership work plan
•Co-author and present academic papers to relevant journals/conferences
•Contribute to KTP evaluation and final reports
•Adhere to the University’s Health and Safety Policy and guidelines
•Promote Equality and Diversity for staff and students
Skills and experience required
What we’re looking for
•You will have a PhD (achieved or completing) in a Management Science discipline, e.g Human Resource Management or Management Information Systems
•You will have theoretical knowledge and understand of Workforce Planning tools and their real-world application
•You will have working knowledge of qualitative and quantitative data design, collection and analysis
•You will have Demonstrable research skills. Experience of utilising research, data science and analytical tools (e.g. Power BI) to collate, interrogate and analyse data from a range of public and private sources
•You will have excellent communication skills including report writing
•You will have demonstrable Project Management experience
•You will have experience of engaging with diverse stakeholders including some experience of working with senior managers
•You will have experience of delivering milestones which contribute to a bigger project output
Other skills which would be desirable however not needed to apply for the role
•You may have experienced of Human Resource Information Systems
•You may have experience in documenting processes and performing diagnostic tests and audits
•You may have experience of developing and implementing new processes and systems for efficient human resource planning
•You will have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to apply creative thinking to find effective solutions
