We believe that an inclusive and diverse workforce is essential to driving innovation and achieving success.

A leading engineering and manufacturing industry group is recognising the remarkable achievements of its female employees to mark International Women’s Day 2023.

Enginuity and EAL, part of the Enginuity Group, are thrilled to be supporting the global campaign by applauding the women at the forefront of both companies.

The organisations are supporting this year’s International Women’s Day theme, #EmbraceEquity, as they both aim to create an “inclusive and diverse” workforce.

As part of this commitment, Enginuity and EAL are celebrating the contributions and achievements of women across their organisations, including recognising the achievements of female employees and encouraging women to pursue engineering and manufacturing careers.

Chair of the Enginuity and EAL Boards, Dame Judith Hackitt DBE CEng FCGI FIChemE FREng, has recently been awarded with the Hanson Medal, of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) 2023 Medals, for her article: ‘Ethics Series: Did you sleep well?’ in The Chemical Engineer magazine. You can read the article here.

Sarah Sandle, Head of Innovation at Rolls-Royce, has worked in the aerospace and power industries for over 30 years and joined the Enginuity and EAL Boards as a Non-Executive Director (NED) in December 2018.

She said: “As we celebrate International Women’s Day, I reflect on my years in the aerospace and power industries. I am particularly proud of being a very early team member at the inception of the TotalCare business model within Rolls-Royce plc over twenty years ago, which has now become an industry standard.

“I also had the privilege of holding a senior role within the programme team managing the build and commissioning of the Rolls-Royce outdoor gas turbine engine test bed at the John C. Stennis space centre in Mississippi, USA.”

She added: “Throughout my career, I have always been passionate about supporting education, particularly in engineering skills and STEM, and contributing as a board member of Enginuity for the past 4 years.

“I am grateful for the opportunities I have had and I hope that my career highlights inspire young women to pursue their dreams in STEM fields.”

The international campaign gives Enginuity and EAL the opportunity to acknowledge the critical role women play in the engineering and manufacturing industries.

The two companies are dedicated to supporting their female employees by acknowledging the unique challenges they face, which are often amplified by gender stereotypes and a lack of representation in leadership roles.

“We are proud to celebrate the women in our organisations and recognise their contributions to the industry,” said Ann Watson, CEO of the Enginuity Group. “We believe that an inclusive and diverse workforce is essential to driving innovation and achieving success. By supporting the career growth of women in engineering and manufacturing, we are helping to build a stronger and more equitable industry for everyone.”

Alison Parkes, Chief Operating Officer of EAL, added: “Celebrating International Women’s Day shows how much EAL and Enginuity value the contributions of women in the engineering and manufacturing sectors.

“We want to send a clear message highlighting that we appreciate and support women in our industry and beyond.”

The Enginuity Group is committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive, regardless of gender, race or background.

Enginuity and EAL embrace equity and promote diversity and inclusion in the engineering and manufacturing sectors, creating opportunities for all. This commitment is reflected through the Diversity and Inclusion category for the Enginuity Skills Awards 2023.
