Lord John Hutton, the Chair of Make UK, expressed his delight in announcing the appointment of Ann Watson as a non-executive director of the organisation.

“We are delighted to announce that Ann Watson has been appointed as a non-executive director of Make UK. Many of you will know Ann and her tireless work to champion the need to improved skills in the manufacturing sector. It is this knowledge of manufacturing and her understanding of the skills required to drive the sector that will bring valuable insight to the Make UK board.”

Ann has been the Chief Executive of Enginuity Group (formerly Semta) since 2015, working closely with engineering employers to identify and develop solutions to the numerous skills challenges within the sector. She represents employer views to Government departments and stakeholders such as the Institute for Apprenticeships to ensure that skills policy aligns with the needs of engineering sector employers. With over 20 years of experience in the skills and engineering sectors, Ann has acquired a unique breadth and depth of knowledge through her various senior roles in relevant organisations.

“It is a great privilege that Lord Hutton and the board of Make UK have appointed me as a non-executive director. Over the past twenty years, I have been dedicated to ensuring that manufacturing employers get access to the skills and talent that they need. Through my work with Enginuity, I share a common goal with Make UK, making this appointment a great opportunity to collaborate and create much-needed positive changes within the industry. I am eager to work alongside the talented team at Make UK and to support them to deliver impact to their members”. – Ann Watson
