The charity focused on closing the skills gaps in engineering and manufacturing

We exist to ensure that the UK engineering and manufacturing sector has people with the right skills, at the right time. The problem-solving abilities of today's engineers and manufacturers are crucial for addressing the most significant challenges facing our society now and in the future.

Employers are struggling to fill current and future skills gaps

We use workforce data from the engineering sector to help employers identify the skills and competencies that link roles, as well as understand which skills are currently in demand.

The education system is hard to navigate for employers and learners

Education is key to solving the skills challenge, but it can be difficult to understand how it all works together, which is where Enginuity comes in to help.

No single organisation can close the skills gaps alone

We serve as a sector connector, using our deep understanding of skills challenges and strong connections across the ecosystem to unite and solve them.

Who is Enginuity?

The charity focused on closing the skills gaps in engineering and manufacturing.

Enginuity works with employers, policymakers, and educators to ensure the sector thrives, supporting innovation, growth, and opportunity for generations to come.

We are uniquely positioned to do this as the only skills charity that is independently funded and so entirely impact-driven, solution agnostic, and focused on a macro industry level, looking holistically at the wider sector.

Legacy of supporting engineering skills

We have been dedicated to strengthening engineering and manufacturing skills in the UK since 1964.

From our origin as the Engineering Industry Training Board, through Entra and EMTA, we built on our charitable mission. In 2003, we merged with the Science Technology and Mathematics Council and became SEMTA, the sector skills council for advanced manufacturing and engineering. In 2020, we rebranded as Enginuity, an independent, self-funded charity.

Today, our heritage drives us forward, tackling engineering and manufacturing skills challenges with the same purpose that has defined us for over half a century.
