Enginuity is proud to provide more support for SMEs that want to get the most from apprenticeships.
The scheme, Your Mentoring Matters, is a fully-funded pilot project designed to help SMEs who don’t yet have an effective apprenticeship mentoring scheme in place.
The programme begins in April with a face-to-face launch event, and applications close in March – which means now’s the time to get involved.
What is Your Mentoring Matters?
Enginuity’s apprenticeship support scheme for SMEs came about as the result of research we conducted with The Engineer in 2024.
The research showed that two in every five SMEs (42%) that achieved completion rates above 65% provided their apprentices with a mentor. This contrasts with just one in five (20%) of respondents who achieved completion rates below 50% and did not explicitly state that they used mentors.
Our SME Advisory Group backed these findings, as members agreed that mentoring can be a powerful process for employers in achieving higher employee engagement, increasing retention, and improving an SME’s reputation.
The Your Mentoring Matters programme will cover what employers need to set up and deliver an apprenticeship mentoring scheme, and how to carry out evaluation so they can continue to make improvements.
Training schedule and costs
The programme kicks off with an in-person training session on 14 April 2026 in a location TBC. Then there’ll be four 1.5-hour sessions once a month from late April to mid-July.
The Your Mentoring Matters programme is fully funded by Enginuity, which includes the cost of all the training and access to all the tools and resources. Attendees’ organisations will receive a grant funding payment of £1,000 to contribute to the time and resources they spend towards setting up or refining their own apprenticeship mentoring schemes.
