Get ready for Enginuity’s Future Skills Hub 2.0

Enginuity’s Future Skills Hub is evolving! Starting this week, we’ll begin unveiling the Future Skills Hub 2.0, with a new theme released each week ahead of the full launch on 14 September. 

Building on the original Future Skills Hub, the new version is designed to help engineering and manufacturing businesses do more than understand what is changing. It will help them make sense of what those changes mean for their business, their workforce and the decisions they need to make next. 

From awareness to action 

When the Future Skills Hub first launched, its focus was on building awareness of emerging technologies, future skills demand and what these changes could mean for businesses. 

The landscape has since evolved, with increasing pressure around digital transformation, net zero, sustainability and wider industrial change. For SMEs in particular, the challenge is no longer simply knowing what is coming. It’s having the time, capacity and clarity to respond. 

Future Skills Hub 2.0 therefore shifts the focus from skills awareness to industrial readiness, helping businesses turn insight into action. 

The updated Hub will provide clearer connections between technology, policy and skills, alongside practical guidance on what these changes mean for businesses and their workforce. 

New themes with practical insight 

Future Skills Hub 2.0 will introduce nine new themes, covering major areas of industrial change and their implications for the engineering and manufacturing sector. The themes will be released weekly: 

• Enabling & transformational skills 
• Cybersecurity 
• Resilient supply chains 
• Hydrogen 
• Batteries 
• Sustainability and circular economy 
• Retrofit and remanufacturing 
• Advanced and smart materials 
• Defence (emerging technologies) 

Each theme will explore what is changing, what is driving that change, and what it means for businesses and their workforce. Content will include explainers, case studies and supporting resources, with tools and frameworks also being developed to help businesses make decisions. 

The themes will continue to build towards the complete Future Skills Hub 2.0 launch on 14 September 2026, when all themes will be available on the newly updated hub. 

A partnership with The Green Edge 

The Future Skills Hub 2.0 has been brought to you in partnership with The Green Edge, whose expertise has helped shape the content and themes throughout the project. 

Elinor Wallace, Technical Solutions and Research Manager at Enginuity, also joined The Green Edge podcast to discuss why the Hub is evolving and how Future Skills Hub 2.0 will help businesses move from understanding change to taking action.

What’s coming next? 

The first new theme will be available from 10 August, with a further theme released each week.
