Enginuity is proud to announce that Phil Smith CBE, Chair of Skills England, will be joining the Skills Awards 2025 as a featured speaker.

Taking place on the evening of Thursday 3rd July at the Park Plaza London Riverbank, this year’s awards will spotlight the role of engineering and manufacturing as the Engine of Growth, a timely theme as the UK prepares for a new Industrial Strategy and a renewed focus on closing the skills gap.

Phil Smith will take part in a fireside chat with one of our hosts, offering guests an opportunity to hear about his remarkable career, his drive to champion skills development across the country, and the ambitious vision he and the Skills England team are building to shape the future.

Phil Smith has worked to bridge industry and education. His appointment as Skills England Chair in 2025 reflects his commitment to shaping the UK’s workforce for future economic needs. Phil is also member of the Industrial Strategy Advisory Council (ISAC) by virtue of his role as interim Chair of Skills England, a new arm’s length body that will bring partners together to meet the skills needs of the next 10 years.

Now in its 11th year, the Enginuity Skills Awards celebrate the individuals, teams, and organisations leading the charge in skills excellence across the UK’s engineering and manufacturing sectors. From trailblazing apprentices and T Level students to forward-thinking employers and groundbreaking programmes, the awards spotlight those creating impact and inspiring others to do the same.
