A new interactive attraction designed to spark children's curiosity about engineering, invention and creativity has officially opened at Gulliver's Valley Resort in South Yorkshire.
Created by the award-winning Kids Invent Stuff team, The Invention Shed brings together imaginative inventions inspired by children's ideas alongside hands-on activities that encourage visitors to think creatively, solve problems and explore how engineering shapes the world around them.
As part of the partnership, Enginuity has created a dedicated interactive area within the attraction to help children discover the exciting world of engineering and manufacturing. Visitors can explore Enspire City, an immersive virtual experience where they tackle real-world challenges through engineering and manufacturing, alongside a hands-on plinko-board challenge that encourages children to think like an engineer through fun questions, fascinating facts and interactive discovery.
Inspiring the next generation
The attraction has been developed through a partnership between Kids Invent Stuff, Gulliver's Valley Resort, Enginuity and Innovate UK, with the shared aim of inspiring more young people to explore engineering, manufacturing and invention.
The opening follows a successful pilot programme involving local primary schools, families and home-educated children, helping to shape the final visitor experience before opening to the public.
Nicola Dolan, Associate Director – Charity Operations and Impact at Enginuity, said: "At Enginuity, we're passionate about inspiring the next generation to see engineering and manufacturing as exciting, creative and accessible. The Invention Shed gives children the chance to discover how ideas become reality through hands-on experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity and problem-solving.
"We're proud to have worked alongside Kids Invent Stuff to create an interactive space where families can explore engineering in action, from the immersive world of Enspire City to activities that show how engineering helps solve everyday challenges. We hope every visitor leaves feeling inspired to imagine what they could create."
A permanent home for invention and creativity
The Invention Shed marks an exciting milestone for Kids Invent Stuff, providing the team with a permanent home for workshops, school visits and family activities alongside its popular programme of bringing children's invention ideas to life.
Every workshop gives children the opportunity to submit their own invention ideas for the chance to see them built by the Kids Invent Stuff team and featured on their YouTube channel.
Ruth Amos, Co-Founder of Kids Invent Stuff, said: "We've never had a space we can deliver activity from before, so this is such a great opportunity for Kids Invent Stuff. Whilst we will continue to be working in schools, venues and at events around the country, we're thrilled to have a base where we can deliver activity from too.
"The Invention Shed gives children and families the chance to experience invention in a completely hands-on way. We want every visitor to leave feeling inspired to create, build and solve problems – and hopefully with a few invention ideas of their own."
The Invention Shed is now open to visitors at Gulliver's Valley Resort, where families can discover how engineering and manufacturing power everyday life while exploring the creativity and innovation behind some of the UK's most imaginative young inventors.
