Last week marked another strong step forward in building Enginuity's presence across West Midlands and East Anglia. Through in-person events, employer engagement, and community activity, we continued strengthening relationships and raising awareness of the support we offer to manufacturers and educators.

As I settle into the region and gradually take over from Fiona McGarry (Sector Engagement Manager), who has set an incredibly strong foundation, my focus is on deepening connections, expanding our reach with SMEs, and turning awareness into meaningful collaboration.

Key highlights

Innovation Awards (Birmingham)

I had the privilege of representing Enginuity and presenting the award for Manufacturing Innovation Champion. The event was a great opportunity to highlight the importance of apprenticeships, skills development, and workforce planning.

Cambridge B2B Conference

This event opened valuable conversations with employers across East Anglia about recruitment, T Levels, apprenticeships, and future talent pipelines. A stand out moment was meeting Claire Williams, formerly of F1, and hearing stories about Sir Frank Williams' early journey.

Girls Can Engineer

I visited Boneham & Turner to support the rollout of the Girls Can Engineer storybook, helping SMEs strengthen connections with local schools. Early inspiration is vital, especially as the region prepares for major future projects such as Sizewell C.

Networking across the region

From Make UK to local Chambers and specialist manufacturing networks, I met with employers, FE providers, and partners to champion collaboration and promote skills interventions aligned with industry needs.

Celebrating diversity and talent

I attended the Multicultural Apprenticeship Awards - an inspiring evening spotlighting young people and employers who are transforming lives through opportunity, representation, and skills

It’s been an energising week of connection and collaboration. I look forward to continuing to build partnerships, support employers and champion the skills that will shape the region’s future.
