Enginuity, the UK charity dedicated to bridging skills gaps in the engineering and manufacturing sector; has partnered with ADS, the UK trade association for aerospace, defence, space, and security sectors; and Farnborough International, home of the Farnborough International Airshow.

Together, we aim to help more people access career opportunities in the thriving aerospace industry through our Role Explorer and Skills Comparator tools.

As well as being available online, Role Explorer and Skills Comparator will also be exhibited at Pioneers of Tomorrow, a dedicated STEM-focused event as part of Farnborough Airshow 2024 on 26 July 2024.

To help explore the connections between careers, skills, and employer demand, Enginuity has developed the Enginuity Skills Framework - a comprehensive 'common language' for engineering and manufacturing occupations and skills.

Using the Enginuity Skills Framework, Skills Comparator allows people to select skills they already have or are in the process of acquiring, to see a summary of roles from across the aerospace industry that match those skills.

Once people have discovered roles that match their skills using Skills Comparator; they can then find out more details about these roles, including key work activities, using Role Explorer.

John Parkes, Head of Charity at Enginuity comments:

“By helping people identify and understand transferable skills, Skills Comparator and Role Explorer can open doors to new career paths while assisting employers in addressing skills shortages within the aerospace industry.”

Nicola Green, Marketing Engagement Lead - Supply Chains and Skills at ADS says:

“Aerospace is a high growth, high productivity and innovative industry. Ensuring a skilled workforce with the rapid pace of technological development is a key issue for our sectors. Skills Comparator and Role Explorer tools help highlight the many different opportunities, including those created by advanced manufacturing and net zero, and we look forward to showcasing the wealth of aerospace careers at Pioneers of Tomorrow.”
