Project details

Why are we doing this?

With emerging technologies in automotive and aerospace driven by electrification, the gap between required skills and available training is growing. Employers are struggling to fill both current and future roles, while the education system, particularly for SMEs, often seems fragmented and confusing.

About the project

The Electrification Skills Network aims to bridge the skills gap in the automotive and aerospace sectors. It aligns employers, accrediting organisations, and skills providers to create a framework that helps identify gaps and connect industry to the right training. This dynamic framework will ensure that the workforce is equipped to meet the evolving demands of electrification and future technological advancements.

Project status

The Electrification Skills Network (ESN) is dedicated to continuing to address the skills gap in electrification through active collaboration with industry and education partners.

Since its inception, the ESN has been working closely with industry stakeholders, education institutions, as well as accrediting and awarding bodies. These groups meet regularly to support the ongoing development of the electrification skills framework. The ESN has also partnered with sector, trade, and professional bodies to raise awareness of the skills needed in the automotive and aerospace industries.

The ESN aims to further refine the skills framework and increase industry engagement. The focus will be on expanding partnerships and fostering deeper collaboration to ensure that electrification skills training remains current and relevant. The ESN will continue to drive awareness and develop tailored solutions to equip the workforce for the future demands of electrification in key industries.
